Bahrain's Labour Fund, Tamkeen, has officially broadened its flagship Enterprise Support Program, introducing dedicated funding windows that co-finance the procurement and operational implementation of artificial intelligence tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Under the restructured subsidy framework, Tamkeen provides non-repayable grants covering up to 50 percent of qualified software licensing, sovereign cloud computing credits, and technical integration consultancy fees for eligible domestic enterprises.
The grant program targets four critical business modernization areas: automated inventory management for retail logistics, predictive accounting and automated tax filing, computer vision quality control for industrial manufacturing, and intelligent bilingual customer service bots. By lowering the initial capital barrier to enterprise software adoption, Tamkeen seeks to prevent a widening productivity divide between well-capitalized multinational corporations and local Bahraini merchants.
To ensure responsible public capital stewardship, Tamkeen has instituted an accredited register of authorized technology service providers and local system integrators. Beneficiary enterprises must undergo an upfront operational readiness audit and commit to retraining national employees in utilizing the new software tools. The program also establishes post-implementation performance metrics, evaluating whether automated software deployments yielded verifiable gains in business revenue, transaction velocity, or operational cost containment.
The enterprise grant initiative complements Tamkeen's broader national mandate to train 50,000 citizens in artificial intelligence by 2030. By simultaneously subsidizing workforce technical education and funding private-sector software acquisition, the Kingdom of Bahrain is orchestrating both the supply and demand sides of the emerging digital economy, accelerating private-sector productivity and economic diversification.
The expansion of Tamkeen's enterprise support windows creates a powerful demand-side stimulus for private sector digital transformation. By co-funding software licensing and integration services, the Kingdom ensures that small and medium-sized merchants can leverage modern machine learning tools to elevate productivity and maintain commercial competitiveness.
Furthermore, Tamkeen has instituted regular technical peer reviews to track return on capital for subsidized software deployments. Beneficiary enterprises that achieve verifiable productivity improvements and successfully upskill national staff are granted priority access to follow-on growth financing and regional export matchmaking facilities, cementing the grant program as a durable engine for private enterprise development.
